Andrew Arlo Moore

October 20, 1981 — September 27, 2023

Andrew Arlo Moore passed peacefully at his home after a year-and-a-half-long health battle.  You may have known him as Andy Vagrant, Arlocon, Cat Daddy, or just Andy.  Born in Jennings, LA to Rozanna Guzman Moore and Gary Moore, Andy was a true original.  He grew up with two sisters, Brandy Moore Bermea and Casey McDonald (Glenn McDonald).  His family moved to Lake Charles while he was in elementary school and he went on to attend Barbe High school, graduating in 1999, where he met, and went to prom with, his future wife, Lauren Piraro Moore.

A punk rocker from childhood, he conformed to no standards or molds.  Andy was a constant Idea-Man.  His brain never stopped thinking and creating.  He was a musician.  He was a skateboarder.  He was a video maker.  He was a toy collector.  He was a lover of cats and fed about 20 strays daily.

Andy was fundamental in the late 1990’s Lake Charles punk scene, finding and booking bands like The Hates and Mystic Fix at The Kilowatt Club.  He was particularly proud of his Lock Park and Kershaw Field shows, thrown to collect canned goods for Abraham’s Tent.  He also played bass and sang in Lake Area bands since 1996, including The Vagrants, The Pickups, The Rumours, Southern Discomfort, and Dead End Lake.  Most of those being collaborations with his best friend, Luke Guidry,

Andy also fought for equality for all before it was popular to do so.  He was not scared to tell anyone exactly how he felt, no matter how honest.  He said what others feared and his honesty was never (meant to be) mean spirited; it came from a place of truly trying to help.  If you wore a band tee for a band you didn’t actually listen to, he set you straight! (Listen to the music before you buy the shirt!)  If someone was racist or bigoted, he let them know!  He did not have hate for anyone and believed others should not, either.

Andy married, divorced, and re-married his high school sweetheart, Lauren Piraro Moore.  They had one child, Aiden Moore.  Andy also has a daughter, Iris Judice, with her mother, Sarah Judice.  Andy loved his children more than they will ever know.

Andy is preceded in death by friends Criss “Criss Drunk” Bennet, Lisa Phillips, and Kevin Richard.

The family would like to thank LAMM Family Care Hospice in Crowley for the care and support provided during his last days.

Andy is survived by his wife, Lauren Piraro Moore; his children, Aiden Moore and Iris Judice; his parents, Rozanna Guzman Moore and Gary Moore; his sisters, Brandy Moore Bermea, Casey Moore McDonald, and Michelle Deris; his nieces, Hayden McDonald, Echoe Moore, and Rayne Bermea; his great nephew and niece, Braydon Washington and Bradlee McDonald; and his best friend and band mate for life, Luke Guidry.

Andy was truly one-of-a-kind and will be sorely missed by his friends and family.
