Bernice Louise Touchet Duhon, 96, of Westlake passed away Friday December 13, 2024 in the comfort of her home.
Mrs. Duhon was born August 7, 1928 in Abbeville, LA to Joachin and Evella Marie Gaspard Touchet. She lived most of her life in Lake Charles. During her younger years she worked in the family Cotton fields and learned the Louisiana French language. She married her sweetheart at the age of seventeen and was a mother at nineteen. Mrs. Duhon loved being a wife and mother and found great joy in devoting her life and her love to her family. Once her children were older, Mrs. Duhon worked many years for the Calcasieu Parish School Board, serving and feeding children while their spirit and laughter brightened her day. Her downtime was often spent working jigsaw puzzles, watching game shows and spoiling grandchildren. She also found great joy in buying purses and jewelry. She will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Marie Carol Sue McMillin (Harvey) of Lake Charles; son, Kenneth Wayne Duhon (Sharon) of Austin, TX; five grandchildren, Kristi Thomas (Russell) of Lake Charles; Chance Duhon, Chase Duhon, Corey Duhon and Cody Duhon (Brittany), all of Austin, TX; five great-grandchildren, Zackary Thomas Schexnider of Baton Rouge, Draven Rain Day of Lake Charles, Scottie Kaye Duhon and Maverick Joseph Duhon, both of Austin, TX, Charlotte Marie Duhon of Dallas, TX and one on the way and two sisters, Mavis Mallett of Erath and Dae Broussard of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-two years, Norris Jospeh Duhon; granddaughter, Kynli Michele Miller; her parents; three brothers and two sisters.
In respect of her wishes, her family gathered privately to share their memories.
