It is with great sadness that the family of Carilee Marie Reedannounces her passing at a hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana, on December 12, 2024, at the age of thirty-seven.
Carilee was born in New Orleans, LA in 1987 to Robert "Bob" and Wendy Reed, but lived most of her life in Sulphur, Louisiana. Shewas a proud graduate of the Sulphur High School Class of 2005 and went on to further her education at McNeese State University. She cherished the friendships she made while attending school, with many of these lasting throughout the remainder of her life.
Left to cherish Carilee's memory are husband, Austin Wigg; two sons, Cage and Brett Hoffpauir; her stepdaughter, Keely Hoffpauir; her father, Robert "Bob" Reed; her niece, Madison Caillouet (Logun, fiancée); her nephews, Kaden, Mason, and Zane; her great-nephew, Beau; her nephews and nieces' mother, Marietta Laughlin; aunts and uncles, and many others who loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Wendy Reed, her brother, Justin Caillouet, and her sister-in-law, Heather Caillouet.
Carilee's exceptional artistic skills and creativity shone brightly throughout her life. Carilee shared her mother's love for music and expressed herself through dance, music, and art, displaying both her versatility and passion for the Arts. In more recent years, she developed a love for refurbishing and recreating old furniture and other items, giving them new life.
Of all the great loves in Carilee's life, her faith and family were by far the most important to her. She had a strong belief in, and love for, Jesus Christ and regularly devoted time to studying His word. She seldom did things in a quiet way, but she would quietly and humbly share devotionals and scripture readings with those she loved and those she sensed needed encouragement and love. Carilee was so proud of her sons and immensely grateful for them. In her own words addressed to one of them recently, she said, "I love you to heaven and back...forever and always, no matter what!" She adored them and they adored her! Carilee's nieces and nephews will forever remember her as Nonnee, the "coolest aunt" - the one they could always count on for fun times. She was known for assigning nicknames to those she loved like "Bretty Poo" and "Cagey/Wagey" for her sons, "Mase" for a nephew, and GumBEAU for her great-nephew. Carilee had a way of expanding the family circle. There were many besides her relatives who called her Nonnee and the number of "sisters" she had cannot be counted. This was her way of letting others know that she loved and cherished them. Carilee's generosity extended beyond life, as she chose to donate her organs, giving the precious gift of life to others.
Carilee will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered lovingly for her bigger-than-life presence, generous heart, hearty bear hugs, beautiful smile that lit up the room, silly faces, loyalty to family and friends, the quirky sense of humor she got from her dad, and so much more.
Our family would like to extend a heartfelt and sincere thank you tothe following for their excellent care and compassion: the first responders who provided Carilee's initial care; the ICU medical team at Rapides General Hospital, especially Nurse JW; and the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency team.
Gifts in Carilee's memory may be made to the Transformations Ladies Recovery Program, 1200 Arkansas Road, West Monroe, LA 71291.
