Donald Parrish

We lost our ‘Pop’s’ on June 5, 2022. Donald Parrish was born in Newark, New Jersey on February 10, 1948 to Muriel and Raymond Lee Parrish II.

He was father to Matthew Parrish and Grandfather to Rowan, Ella and Campbell Parrish. 

Don was a Private in the Vietnam War and was awarded a Commendation Medal for his service and achievements. He felt a great sense of pride in serving his country. 

An avid outdoorsman, Don loved fishing, diving, camping and many visits along the Pacific and Atlantic Coasts with his son exploring natures beauty.

He achieved a lifelong goal of living on a yacht with the purchase of his sport fishing blackfin yacht- this was where he spent the last years of his life.

Don was great with his hands and could fix, build, stitch and organize just about anything. He was often visiting family to help improve their surroundings.

Don was an expert craftsman and used that love to start his own upholstery business. Don’s Upholstery brought him joy and introduced him to many people that remember him fondly to this day. 

He is preceded in death by his mother, father and brothers Kevin, Keith and Tim. He will forever be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Pvt Parrish server during the Vietnam War in the Army.  A-Troop 4/12 Calvary Alpha 82 along with his older and admired surviving brother Raymond Lee Parrish III who proudly served in the Marine Corps.

We are grateful for his service to his country and his family, he will live on in our hearts and memory.

In lieu of flowers we would encourage donations to the Wounded Warriors Foundation and or VA Mental Health Fund.   

Cremation was entrusted to Simple Traditions Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Crown Hill National Cemetery, 725 W. 42nd St, Indianapolis, IN. 46208, on May 24, 2024, from 12:45pm – 2:00PM.
