It’s with great sorrow, we announce the passing of Donna Lenora Hunter Scott born November 23, 1947, to Clarence and Patricia Hunter. Donna’s journey ended on November 1, 2024, leaving behind a very special place in the hearts of so many. Donna was a cheerleader for Texas City High School and was a queen in Texas City pageants.
After high school, Donna joined the US Navy, and she was so proud of her service and the time spent in San Diego.
Donna worked as a professional florist in her own shop until she shifted gears into a management role through her retirement in 2020. Even while working full-time, she always found a way to be creative. Donna would make flowers for all occasions for anyone who asked. She then found a love and talent of baking and decorating cakes.
Donna moved to Louisiana and began an active role in Mardi Gras Krewe de la Noblesse.
Donna loved all things sports. Her love for baseball started as a child when she played softball and watching her father umpire for local teams. She began her love for all Texas teams with the Colt 45s and from there with the Astros, Oilers, Texans, University of Texas (hook ‘em) and of course Navy Football.
Her largest love she cherished most were her two daughters and her family. She was their biggest cheerleader in any event they did. Attending every cheer or dance practice, gymnastics class and numerous football game performances.
Survivors include her daughters Nicol Weiss and Gabrielle (Doug) Jeffries; sister, Patricia Hirschfeld; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; many nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.
Proceeded in death by, Mother Patricia Hunter; Father Clarence Hunter; Brother Gordon “Marty” Hunter.
Thank you to all who visited, called, text messages and thought for Donna over the recent months.
In lieu of flowers, you are invited to make a donation in her memory to a charity of your choice. Celebration of life services to be held at a later date and she will laid to rest in Omaha National Cemetery.
