Roger Lee William Givin

October 4, 1942 — September 18, 2022

Roger Lee William Givin, 79, was gathered to his ancestors as he passed away peacefully in his home on September 18, 2022. He was surrounded by loving family. Roger resided in Lake Charles, LA. with his beloved wife, Betty K Tabor Givin. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Robert Givin and Myrna Helen Whitted Givin of blessed memory and his younger sister, Connie Givin Saionkowsky, also of blessed memory. He leaves behind his two siblings, Lynn Givin and Gayle Givin Langlois.

He also leaves behind his loving wife of over 37 years, Betty K Tabor Givin and his two children, Darren Knight, Lacey Givin Peterson along with three stepchildren, Kim Thigpen, Deidre Jaworski and Trent Thigpen from a previous marriage. In addition, he left behind three stepchildren Kimberly Alverado, Beth Earle, and Amy Wallace from his current marriage to Betty, plus sixteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren...last but not least is his little puppy, "Bracha," meaning "blessing" in Hebrew, who insisted on giving him kisses and snuggling beside him as he breathed his last few breaths.

Roger grew up on a small farm in Ohio.  Soon after high school graduation, he joined the Air Force where he trained as a surgical tech. Roger became an entrepreneur and built multiple businesses leading up to his final ownership of HomeCrafts, a residential remodeling company.  Sudden loss of both his business, along with Roger and Betty's home in "The Great Southeast Texas flood of 1994" led to a career of serving others experiencing similar loss. Roger and Betty traveled across the country as Catastrophe Insurance Adjusters until his retirement in 2012.

Roger's faith was a big part of who he was. He was passionate about life and his search for "emet" {truth}. The date of his passing, September 18th, is of special significance as the number "18" means "chai" or "life" in Hebrew! He was a "Big Presence" in this world and will be dearly missed by his loving friends and family.

Family will gather in multisite Celebrations of LIfe in honor of Roger's memory.  In lieu of flowers, any donations towards his final resting expenses would be appreciated.
