Stacy Perry White

After a courageous battle with cancer, Stacy Perry White, 51, peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of November 15 surrounded by her parents, Coral Crain Byrd (Richard) and Charles Perry (Frances).

Stacy grew up in the idyllic community of Grand Chenier where there was plenty of room for her dogs, horses, and show calves. From the time she was a toddler to the day she died, Stacy was known to be mischievous, rebellious, and a bit sassy.

As a young child, Stacy took every opportunity to disrupt services at Grand Chenier Methodist Church. It was not unusual to find Stacy crawling under the pews or swinging from the altar during the sermon.

In her teen years, Stacy worked at Crain Brothers. Her first job out of college was with Bolton Ford where Miss Carolyn, Jean, and Buddy Bolton taught her aspects of dealership accounting. Stacy worked for many dealerships over the years, but she always gave credit to Miss Carolyn and the Boltons for teaching her how to be a good accountant and office manager. After a time in New Orleans, Stacy heard the mountains calling her name and she moved to Eastern Tennessee.

In her adopted home state, she met and married Mat White. They began a successful tree service company which enabled her to spend her days working on the mountain she loved in Reliance. Stacy spent several years in Reliance, where she enjoyed wearing cowboy boots and going off-road on four wheelers and side-by-sides. She begrudgingly learned to tolerate and co-exist with the rattlesnakes native to the mountain.

Stacy loved the three dogs she and Mat shared. When she moved back to Lake Charles to be near family, she made certain they went to homes where they would be loved. Rooster and Turbo split their time between Atlanta and the Tennessee mountains with Stacy’s in-laws, Becky and Mark White. Her lab, Sthil, has plenty of room to run and is happily roaming Eastern Tennessee with Stacy and Mat’s friend, Zac Geren.

Stacy made friends easily and she had many both in Louisiana and Tennessee. When her illness was first detected Stacy was far from a model patient but her good friends, Christy and Bryan LeJeune, did not hesitate to take her into their home to provide the care she needed. The time quickly came for Stacy to move back to be with family. While Stacy was adamant about not leaving the mountain, Audie Watson, Stacy’s former husband and the only person on Earth more stubborn than Stacy, loaded her up and drove her back to Lake Charles. Although initially cantankerous about moving home, Stacy came to enjoy spending her mornings in the kitchen with her mother and afternoons visiting with her father. She cherished every moment she was able to spend with her daughter, Jade, and granddaughter, Chloe. Jade and Chloe were the two greatest blessings in her last days.

Stacy leaves behind her sister, Catherine Miller (Robert Kerzee), and nephew, Brady Miller; her stepchildren, Shane, Alexis, and Haleigh Meyers and Amber Watson; her step siblings, Natalie Wynn Fontenot, Willie Wynn, and Paula and Amy Byrd; and her grandmother-in-law, Billie White.

Greeting Stacy at the Pearly Gates were her son, Arnold Meyers, and stepson, Jordan Meyers; grandparents, John Cecil and Corrine Perry and A.H. “Sono” and Ella Mae Crain; and husbands, Patrick Meyers and Mat White.

Stacy loved her caretakers very much and was quick to give them nicknames from her heart. The family extends their gratitude to Priscilla “Queen Bee” Dupree, Francesca “Love Bug” Gaspard, and Sylvia “Hoppin Jalapeno” Pourciaux for the compassion and companionship they provided to Stacy.

Reverend Weldon Bares will officiate Stacy’s memorial service in the Worship Center of First United Methodist Church Lake Charles where she faithfully attended throughout her early years. Saturday, December 2, there will be a short visitation at 10:00am followed by the service at 11:00am.
